SimCat Project Launched
The SimCat project - officially entitled Semantic Similarity Measurement for Role-Governed Geospatial Categories - has started on November 1st. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and will run until the end of October 2008. Our team consists of members of two working groups at the Insitute for Geoinformatics, University of Münster: icel (ifgi cognitive engineering lab) and musil (Muenster semantic interoperability lab). The topics we are going to deal with include time, context, goals and affordances (all in the context of similarity, of course); extraction and structuring of concept representations; levels of abstraction; similarity measurement between concepts in description logics; and finally potential usages of artificial neural networks as activation and alignment structures for similarity.
We will regularly report on our progress on this website, so check back now and then (or simply subscribe to our RSS feed).
